Liberty Speaks About DirecTV / SiriusXM Integration Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 February 2009
ImageLiberty Media, the company which owns a controlling interest in DirectTV and recently saved Sirius XM from the brink of bankruptcy with a $530 million cash loan, is playing with the idea of packaging Sirius XM subscriptions with DirectTV subscriptions. The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, also speculates about reducing Sirius XM to 150 channels, and using the remaining bandwidth to provide mobile video to customers.  He warns that this is highly speculative at the moment, but it is an idea they are considering.  The bundle would tentatively cost about $80, a price that he and CEO of Sirius Mel Karmazin have discussed.
