Digital has introduced the compact and powered SW-500DC and SW-350DC
High-Pressure Subwoofers at the International Consumer Electronics Show
last week, which are both high-pressure, high-output, front-firing
subwoofers. The SW-500DC features a 12-inch woofer, while the SW-350DC
features a 10-inch woofer. Both have built-in tracking downconverter
amplifiers.
According to Carver, the high-pressure design allows the subs to
deliver an unusually high level of low bass energy in a compact
housing. The tracking downconverter amplifier lets the subs anticipate
dramatic sound level changes and automatically adjust the amplification
needed to improve the signal’s dynamics. The fast response also helps
any receiver that’s connected to run more efficiently and generate less
heat. The SW-500DC delivers 500 watts RMS and features a frequency response of 18Hz – 260Hz, a 163mV input sensitivity for the rated power, and an input impedance of 10.8 kOhm. The amp’s efficiency is greater than 83 percent, according to Carver. The SW-350DC delivers 350 watts RMS and features a frequency response of 20Hz – 180Hz, a 100mV input sensitivity, and an input impedance of 15 kOhm. The amp’s efficiency is greater than 80 percent, according to Carver. Both subwoofers have an ergonomic design with a durable polyester resin finish, gold-plated RCA inputs and outputs, and fully controllable gain, crossover frequency, and phase controls. They also share an auto-on/off power setting, banana post speaker level inputs and pass-through outputs for two channels, aluminum cone isolation feet, and a removable IEC power cord. Carver Digital’s SW-500DC and SW-350DC subwoofers will be available in Spring 2005. |
