Canton Debuts New $1,000 Packaged Home Theater Print E-mail
Wednesday, 12 March 2003
Canton has introduced the Movie LE 125 home theater. The package consists of four identical two-way satellite speakers for front and surround L/R channels, a matching horizontal center-channel speaker, and a powerful 150-Watt Active subwoofer.

All six speakers in the system feature a beech finish with a perforated silver face metal grill. Each component is designed and manufactured by Canton from the ground up, including drivers and crossovers, to deliver clear and dynamic sound reproduction for both multi-channel movies and music. The Movie LE 125 satellites delivers clear and accurate reproduction from 43 Hz to 26 kHz. The front and surround speakers each feature a 5-inch polypropylene woofer and 1-inch fabric tweeter. The center channel uses identical drivers to ensure a seamless soundstage, but employs a pair of woofers for improved dialogue reproduction. These speakers can be mounted on bookshelves or in home entertainment centers.

Canton also offers a line of waist-height speaker stands and its rugged Cantomount adjustable wall-mounting brackets, which are useful for surround speaker mounting.

The LE 125 subwoofer features Canton’s exclusive SC technology, extending the system’s bass response all the way down to 22 Hz, while maintaining low distortion. It features a 10-inch cellulose-graphite cone, bass reflex enclosure, and 150-Watt built-in amplifier. The unit can be blended with the satellites in nearly any room due to the variable bass level, switchable phase control, and a crossover that can be adjusted from 50 to 150 Hz.

Unlike many modern subwoofers, this is no conventional ‘black box,’ but features the same attractive finish as the satellites. For those who do not desire a separate subwoofer, Canton also offers the satellites alone as the Take 5-LE 1 system. Of course, this system can also be combined with any of the company's AS line of subwoofers.

The Canton Movie LE 125 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $1,599. The Take 5-LE 1 system is currently available at a suggested retail price of $1,000.
