Anthemís New $3,195 AVM 20 AV Preamp Print E-mail
Friday, 27 July 2001
Anthem, little brother of Sonic Frontiers and owned by Canadian loudspeaker company Paradigm, had released its newest preamp, processor and Tuner - the ANTHEM Audio Video Master 20 - AVM 20. Completely designed, fabricated and assembled in Canada, the new AVM 20 Preamplifier/Processor/Tuner contends to lead the market in performance and value - due to its incredible musicality, comprehensive array of features, attractive ergonomic design, functionality and ease of use. The AVM 20 is priced at $3,199 US retail. As with all Anthem products, the AVM 20 is available through an extensive network of independent specialty retailers across North America. The AVM 20 is scheduled to begin shipping to stores in September and will be available with silver or black fascia, a no charge option.

The THXR Ultra certified AVM 20 now includes both Home THX Cinema and the cutting-edge feature of THX Surround EX, with additional rear left and right outputs in both Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA connections, for up to 7.1 channels of sound.

Also of extreme importance to audiophiles fully versed in the newest audio formats, is the AVM 20’s capability to perform full bass-management on all DVD Audio and multi-channel SACD recordings. Previous to this, many home theater processors that offer analog direct bypass connections for these new audio formats, did not enable the user to control the low and high pass crossover frequencies, speaker setup sizes, or subwoofer settings.

All of the newest, high resolution video formats are also supported as the AVM 20 is able to support all resolutions up to and including 1080p, Progressive scan, High Definition Video switching with no video degradation as a result of its ultra-wide bandwidth to 100 MHz.

Boasting the newest and most powerful, the Motorola Digital DNA 56366 DSP (digital signal processing) engine operating at 120 million instructions per second, the AVM 20 has powerful versatility with 3 fully independent IR controllable zones plus independent record path; dual 7.1 system capability; digital conversion of analog formats such as tapes, FM, or LPs (through an external phono stage) to allow digital recording of analog sources; Internet software upgrades; and password-protected restorable installer and user settings.
