Adcomís new 7.1 DVD-Audio ready AV preamp Print E-mail
Tuesday, 05 June 2001
Adcom's new GTP-830 is the latest in their series of outstanding home theater tuner/preamps and their first to feature 7.1 channel capability. And at a MSRP of $1199.95, the GTP-830 is an unparalleled value for its level of flexibility and performance. Utilizing Adcom's own proprietary algorithm, two discrete "back surround" channels of information are derived. These two channels of information may be generated from conventional 5.1 channel formats, such as Dolby Digital or DTS, as well as working with the newer 7.1 channel formats such as THX EX or DTS ES. The GTP-830 also features the capacity to handle the newest high-end audio format, DVD Audio, as well as incorporating an RDS‰ tuner and coming equipped with a full featured learning remote control.

Len Safhay, Adcom's Director of Marketing states, "In addition to the wonderful theater effects and image localization made possible by the 7.1 channel format, the GTP-830 benefits from the very best of Adcom's considerable experience in both analog and digital design, coupled with our long established ability to create products with great price-to-performance ratios. It represents an outstanding achievement for Adcom and a terrific value for our customers."

Considering its modest price, the GTP-830 still features traditional Adcom design virtues such as an oversized toroidal power supply, Class A audio circuitry, and a superb quality 24 bit DSP circuit. And, added Safhay "In keeping with Adcom's long commitment to music reproduction, the GTP-830's ability to handle the new DVD Audio discs æ with their exceptional resolution in both 5.1 channel and two-channel modes æ makes it the ideal platform for the discerning music lover as well as the home theater aficionado. We are extremely proud to be able to offer such a notable combination of performance, features and value ".
