iTunes Tops Ten Billion Music Downloads Print E-mail
Friday, 26 February 2010
ImageApple announced today that their iTunes music store has eclipsed ten billion song downloads.  If there was any doubt of who gets the mantle of “World’s Biggest Music Retailer,” there isn’t any longer.  Ten billion downloads is an amazing milestone to hit. Louie Sulcer of Woodstock, Georgia was the person to download that ten billionth track, and the winner of a $10,000 iTunes gift card.  That’s enough to satisfy even the most avid music collector for a good long while.

The song in question was “Guess Things Happen That Way” by Johnny Cash.  It’s  a good track from a solid musician, which is nice to see.   I could imagine this contest turning into a very good news/bad news situation very easily.  If Louie were downloading one of his guilty pleasures, he might not be so excited to have the news broadcast to the world.
