iTunes Kicks Off Tiered Pricing for Music Print E-mail
Tuesday, 07 April 2009
ImageApple has introduced tiered pricing for songs, implementing a 30 cent price hike or reduction, based on the popularity of the song.  Popular songs will now be priced at $1.29, unpopular songs will cost $0.69, and those in the middle will remain at $0.99. As of yet, there are few songs at the $0.69 cent level.  There is a “Great Songs at a Great Price” package that includes hits like “I Want You to Want Me” by Cheap Tricks and “Cover Me” by Bruce Springsteen, but most of the new songs and those on the Top-40s-type charts are entering the store at the $1.29 price level.
