Netflix Calls it Quits on HD DVD - Finally Print E-mail
Wednesday, 19 November 2008
ImageLike this is really a shock to mass consumers.  Netflix announces that they will no longer offer HD DVD rentals as of December 15th.  I can't believe that they are still carrying them this late after the end of the battle.  This announcement comes shortly after they have announced the discontinuation of selling previously viewed DVDs through their website.
Netflix has also recently instituted an increased fee for Blu-ray rentals.  Many have complained about the increased which is a mere $1 per month.  I find it totally reasonable.  My only issue is, I wouldn't trust the discs coming from Netflix.  It is hard enough to get brand new Blu-ray discs to play properly, so receiving discs in the mail that look like someone used it as a plate to eat their dinner off of doesn't seem worth it.
