Paradigm Wants to Rock You With the New Monitor 60-SM Print E-mail
Friday, 10 March 2006
Paradigm has just introduced the new Rock Monitor 60-SM, a high-performance stereo/mono outdoor rock speaker that offers two-channels of sound (left and right) from a single speaker. As more and more people discover the joys of entertaining outdoors, the demand for rock speakers is growing. Until now, however, sound has played second fiddle to cosmetics. With the durable and life-like Paradigm Rock-Monitor 60-SM, audiophiles can take the high performance sound normally associated with indoor speakers to the great outdoors. The Rock Monitor 60-SM features award-winning technology found in the company’s affordable high-end indoor Monitor series, including two 1-inch PTD pure-titanium domes and a 6-1/2-inch mineral-filled polypropylene bass/midrange cone.
With its stereo/mono option and Dual-Directional sound field (two tweeters are offset at 60° angles) the Rock Monitor 60-SM offers exceptional placement flexibility. One rock speaker wired for stereo is ideal in small areas less suited to a stereo pair of speakers. In larger, or unusually shaped areas, multiple rock speakers each wired for stereo will distribute sound evenly across an area. This eliminates the imbalances that can occur with stereo sound as people move around or are seated closer to one speaker than the other. Then there is the mono option: two rock speakers, each wired for mono sound (one speaker for the left channel, the other for the right) can be used as a traditional stereo pair. This is particularly appropriate when the outdoor listening area is well defined and the speakers are positioned where people most often congregate, such as by the deck or poolside.

The rock’s sealed cabinet is a sturdy weather, water, and UV resistant polymer with self-draining fissures. Available in three supremely realistic textured faux-stone finishes; the speaker will blend unobtrusively into the natural landscape, leaving house guests wondering where the sound is coming from! Place the Rock Monitor SM-60R on the ground, in a flowerbed, on a deck or patio, or around the pool, and enjoy the luxury of true high-performance sound in the comfort of your own backyard. To prevent theft or unauthorized movement of your rock speaker Paradigm also includes a security spike with cable.

The speaker is available in Fieldstone, Northeastern Dark Granite, or Western Sandstone. It weighs 12 pounds and the US retail price is $249.00 per speaker. Full product specifications are available on Paradigm’s website. Availability is slated for Spring 2006.
