The SVS SB-2000 Subwoofer Review
Set Up and Listening
Conclusion

A huge favorite in our household is HBO’s Game Of Thrones, which is a multi channel tour de force. The SB-2000 transformed our viewing and listening experience to the point that my wife nearly jumped out of her seat during particularly explosive scenes. I was, yet again, taken with how the thunderous low frequency content stopped and started precisely.

The SB-2000 showed its versatility in that also performed beautifully on music. HD channel Palladia put the SVS through its paces with live concerts, music videos, and classic concert films in both multi-channel and stereo mixes. The sub was always up to the task, displaying a precision that you just don’t hear from so called “budget” subs.

The SVS also an enjoyed a brief time in one of my two-channel set ups, with a few different speakers. It was easy to integrate, and blended well with no overhang. Make no mistake, the SB-2000 is at home in variety of installations, I can see how it would be a superb match with the SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers, although those were not lacking in bass themselves. But it would add that last layer of realistic weight.

SVS SB-2000
Conclusion

SVS has knocked out of the park with the SB-2000. At $699, it is absolute steal, a high class product, and offers plenty of set up options. To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of subwoofers, even having owned a number of them, even expensive ones. The technology and design has leapt forward significantly, and SVS has taken full advantage of this.

There are several other subwoofer models in the line up, depending on your needs. For me, a sealed design is perfect, as it produces all the output and low end heft I could ever need in my rooms. If shopping for a sub, I strongly suggest checking out the SVS model line up for outstanding value, the in-home trial and, of course, the superb performance. The SB-2000 is a homerun.
