avielo radiance DLP Projector Preview Print E-mail

ImageNorway's projectiondesign seeks to provide unparalleled image quality and user experiences its aveilo radiance DLP projector.  With a full HD 1920 x 1080p native resolution, the single chip (0.95"), single lamp aveilo radiance is based on the same chases as the avielo spectra, but features 10-bit video processing and a higher output for larger screens "at a relatively low cost."

The avielo radiance speaks fluent PAL, SECAM, and NTSC digital and analogue RGB, accepting all 1080i/p, 720p, 576i/p, and 480i/p signals which will then be projected at 1080p.  Projector offset stats are impressive on the vertical side (a vertical offset of 124%), but there is no horizontal offset.  Contrast ratio is a decent >5000:1 (native optical contrast).  The single 300-watt UHP lamp is good for a brightness of 1200 ANSI lumens (adjustable), which means with an 87 inch screen, you're throwing 26 foot lamberts, but scale up to a 130 incher, and your down at a dismal 12 foot lamberts. The lamp life expectancy is 2500 hours in standard power mode; 2000 hours in high power mode.

The included lens, a standard zoom lens (1.6-2.00:1), is sealed within the optical assembly to prevent dust and contaminants from entering.  The aspherical lens elements and proprietary LD (Low Dispersion) glass is designed to resolve the finer detail of 1080p resolution.

The avielo radiance is compatible with HDMI 1.3.a as well as DVI-I connector that features added structural support for heavy gauge cable.  In order to fight against HDMI transmission issues over longer distances, both the HDMI and DVI-I inputs feature projectdesign's unique digital DPEq Digital Pixel Equalization, which they purport to allow for 100ft (24AWG copper digital cable) runs without signal loss at full 1080p.

Like the more expensive avielo optix, the avielo radiance is a calibrator's dream.  Projectiondesign recommends using SpectraCal Cal MAN calibration software to aid the process, but the heart of the processing is the BrilliantColor technology which seeks to improve illumination efficiency and create a wider color gamut.  BrilliantColor, or RealColor as it may be called elsewhere, easily surpasses color and image requirements for any high definition broadcast, HD-DVD, or Blu-ray source material.  The avielo radiance supports SMPTC, REC709 and EBU colour gamut.

Like the other projectors in the avielo series, the radiance is built on the technologies used in projection designs professional model projectors (such as the helios) which are used by production and editing studios around the world -- semi-recently, an avielo projector was used to complete BBC's gorgeous HD production, EARTH.  Each and every avielo radiance projector is carefully hand crafted, tuned, verified, and tested in-house before shipping.  More so, each projector is uniquely characterized and calibrated at the factory with unique-to-the-unit settings stored in unit with a backup file remaining in the factory.  The avielo optix is available in two colors (for Americans), or two colours (for Canadians or Europeans): pearl white, or etruscan bronze.

Look for the avielo radiance at high end dealers carrying projection design projectors.
