Anchor Bay Technologies, Inc. (ABT), creator of DVDO high-performance video processing systems, announced today that its A/V Media Processor has been selected by JVC for use with their DLA-HD2K and DLA-HD10K home theater projection systems. JVC recently announced the new systems along with a general re-pricing of configurations.

JVC Professional Products has just announced the introduction of the DLA-HD10K, the new flagship projector in JVC's family of high-definition, ultra high-resolution home theater projection systems. Featuring a proprietary 3-chip Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) technology, an advanced form of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) that is capable of greater pixel density than competing technologies such as DLP or LCD, the DLA-HD10K offers native1920x1080 resolution and utilizes 'non-moving' mirror reflective technology to produce smooth, high-resolution images, which boast vibrant color and incredible detail as seen on big-screen Hollywood films. In addition, the high-resolution lenses have motorized zoom and focus with a 0-60% vertical offset.

Sony is showcasing the SRX-R110, a market-ready version of its digital cinema SXRD 4K projector which it hopes will be adopted as move theaters start to switch replacing film with digital projectors. The projectors have been shipping since early October and by December Sony expects to up production to 100 units per month. Earlier models did not work so well but the company is confident in the SRX-R110 having recently demonstrated the projector in Hollywood to an audience of major studio executives as well as representatives from independent production companies, industry organizations and exhibitors. Landmark Theaters is expected to be the first major chain to adopt the new projector. The SXRD 4K Projector was demonstrated using 2K and 4K footage from movies like Star Wars Episode II: Revenge of the Sith and The Sound of Music. Sony has unveiled a new 1920 x 1080p high-definition front projector based on its own Silicon X-tal Reflective Display technology with a reported contrast ratio of up to 15,000:1. The VPL-VW100 uses three SXRD chips (a separate one for red, green and blue color reproduction) to deliver over six million native pixels.
