Wednesday, 31 May 2006 ,  Written by and Warner Home Video debut this year's DVD Decision. Voters can cast their vote on any of 30 titles to be released on DVD at the end of 2006. Warner has announced that from June 1st through July 1st, internet users can vote on 30 of Warner's unreleased film titles. The top 10 vote getters will be released on DVD by Warner. Half will be released in December 2006 and the other half released in January 2007.

The band’s first three concert home videos, each of which is out of print in any format, will be issued for the first time together and on DVD. The four-disc box set Rush Replay x 3 (Mercury/UMe), will be released June 13, 2006, combines the three DVDs-- Exit…Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure and A Show Of Hands--with a never-before-released CD soundtrack version of Grace Under Pressure.

Amazon, the largest US online retailer, has entered the developing show-down over high-definition video formats, with a new "DVD on demand" service. The service allows content owners to produce discs in either of the competing new formats in response to demand. The retailer has already begun selling a limited selection of films in the new HD-DVD format on its US site, including discs produced through its CustomFlix subsidiary, which transfers analog material to digital format.

The deals mark yet another offering for people looking to watch TV shows when they want rather than when they are televised.

Executives from top movie theater chains on Wednesday dismissed calls to shorten the period between a film's release on the big screen and on DVD, saying it would be harmful to studios, theaters and consumers. Some studio executives, including Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger, have called for faster DVD releases to combat rising piracy over the Internet, amid slowing sales of DVDs and a U.S. box office slump.
