Samsung is stepping up its 3D offerings in a big way.  The company has launched a new service in Japan that allows Samsung television owners to access 3D content on demand. The 3D VODS kick off with a few movie trailers, a few features and even a concert.  Educational content, including a television show that teaches Japanese children how to speak English, is also featured.

Facebook is a daily, or even hourly visit for its most frequent users.  It's a hub for self-expression and a place to learn about your friends, your favorite websites and more.  Now it's even more than that, since Warner has introduced Facebook movie rentals. This year, Peter Jackson's incredible films will be hitting Blu-ray in full.  Well, sort of.  The films themselves will be on Blu-ray discs, but based on the product information on Amazon, it looks like the supplemental features will be on DVD.

The good news: the beloved 'Star Wars' series is coming back to theaters, and in 3D no less.  The fan favorite franchise is getting converted and brought back the big screen, starting in 2012. The bad news is that Lucas will be starting with 'The Phantom Menace' and basing the releases of the films off of the net profits of the first.  That means if you want to see 'Empire,' you need to buy a ticket for 'Phantom Menace.

What started out as an interesting take on a handheld system is quickly becoming an incredibly appealing device for fans of 3D. There were a few big announcements to come out of Nintendo at the Game Developers Conference this week, but one of the biggest was the addition of Netflix.   This will make the 3DS the first handheld game system to offer the streaming service as an option.
