Whether you call it a home theater system or a home theater in a box, there's no denying that there's a stigma attached to pre-packaged setups.  The latest systems from Onkyo break out of the traditional mold by offering something that most high-end receivers don't. The top three out of Onkyo's four new home theater systems come packed with the Marvell Qdeo 4K processor, capable of taking your 1080p content and bringing it up to 4K.

LG has a few prototypes that they've been showing off in the mobile TV department.  One of them is immediately interesting and can easily be seen as viable at the right price.  The other seems, well, bad. The more practical an interesting device is a mobile TV that's capable of showing 3D content broadcast on the ATSC Mobile TV standard.  Even better, it does so without requiring that you wear glasses to watch it.  LG says this is the first set of its kind.

Now that passive technology 3D televisions are on the market, companies have to do something to keep people interested in their active sets.   Samsung is doing that by eliminating the big talking point that companies like LG have - expensive glasses.

There's no question that digitally delivered content is the future of media.  The convenience to the customer and low cost to the distributor make digitally distributed video a no-brainer. The big question though, is how far away is that future. The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) did a study to help answer that question and found that while Netflix and Hulu may have a lot of watchers, they're not going to replace DVD and Blu-ray for at least another four years.

Just a few weeks ago, a new streaming site called Zediva opened its doors.  Response was immediate and the service was soon flooded with new members - so many that it had to cut off registration soon after. Zediva does things a bit differently than Netflix in that rather than playing a digital media file from a server, a stream from Zediva is straight from a DVD player.
