We're only a few months away from what will almost certainly be the biggest Blu-ray release yet.  Since high definition discs were introduced, fans have been craving epic films like the 'Indiana Jones' trilogy, 'Jaws,' 'Jurassic Park,' and all of the other big screen adventures that need to be appreciated in a higher resolution.  Though all of these are in high demand, the outcry for 'Star Wars' overtakes them all. If you're the owner of an Apple iDevice - an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch - you'll be able to get an early peek at what the Blu-ray set has to offer.  Starting on August 2nd, iPhone and iPod owners will be able to download the app, but if you own an iPad you can go ahead and grab it right now.

In the last few years there have been a variety of media streamers competing for the top spot, but Roku has always been at the forefront in terms of price, capability and innovation.  The Roku 2 brings more to the table than its predecessors without mucking about with higher prices. The baseline model is the Roku 2 HD and it offers the basics - built in Wi-Fi, music and movie streaming and a 720p resolution. The XD steps things up to 1080p while the XS adds a motion control for gaming, an ethernet port for those who want to go wired, and a free copy of Angry Birds.  Even more exciting is that the XS model finally introduces a USB port for playback of files.

Some companies like to doll up their receivers with features like internet radio capabilities, iPhone control and streaming functionality.  NAD goes the other route, offering only features to enhance the listening experience. The new T-757 boats a high-speed DSP for decoding high definition audio formats and can convert stereo source material into a surround sound experience using EARS surround mode.  It remembers custom settings for each of your sources and you can even name the inputs to match the source that's attached.

Sick of tiny touch screens and looking for something more substantial?  Crestron hears you.  Their newest creation, the V24-C, is a significant 24 inches and aims to combine the convenience of a touchscreen display with the size and watchability of an HD computer monitor. The new V-Panel plays nice with Crestron DigitalMedia 8+ systems and is able to control lighting, thermostats, home theaters and whatever else you've got automated.  Its DGE-2 graphics engine can hide up to 330 feet away so you don't have to clutter up your room.

It's been a long time coming, but Spotify has finally launched in the US.  The music streaming service offers instant access to what seems like a limitless library of songs.  The free version of Spotify gives you that instant access, but you'll have to listen to ads from time to time.  It also requires an invitation, which you can sign up for on Spotify.com.  Shelling out $5 a month gets you an ad free experience, but the excitement comes with the Premium service.

After Netflix announced a price change that managed to turn them from heroes to villains overnight, it's time for their competitors to step up and try and take advantage of the glut of people cancelling their subscriptions. Blockbuster's offering is a different take on things that reflects their in-store rental policy. Instead of signing up for a subscription, you can rent discs individually at a price of $4.99.  Simply pick your disc and it'll be on the way to your door for a 7-day rental period.

Say goodbye to the good old days of cheap, unlimited DVD rentals and unlimited streaming for less than ten dollars. Starting today for new customers, and after the first of September for existing customers, U.S. Netflix subscribers will find pricing on the unlimited streaming / unlimited DVD rentals (1 at-a-time) jumping from $9.99/month to $15.98/month.  Blu-ray rentals are of course $2-5 per month extra (depending on the plan).  This price jump isn't really a surpise given the amount of cash Netflix has been sinking into original programming and licensing agreements, but still 60 percent is quicte a rate hike.
