Walmart’s selling 3D televisions.  That sentence may not immediately strike you as a big deal, but it really is. Walmart is a giant chain, and the single biggest retailer in the US, but with that size comes a lack of speed and dexterity.  The company stocks safe bets, and they’re not known for taking chances.  DVD players, for example, didn’t finally hit Walmart shelves until 40% of American homes already had them.

You’ve shelled good money for an extremely slim television to mount on your wall.  It’s thin, and it looks great. There were a total of five HDTV lines announced by Toshiba today, but chief among them is the capable and slick looking UX600 series. The 1080p capable sets are available in 40”, 46” and 55”, all of which take advantage of Toshiba ClearFrame 120Hz technology.  Keep in mind, it’s a frame doubling technique, rather than a true 120hz refresh rate.

It’s amazing the information that comes from Twitter these days, rather than official blogs or old-school press releases.  The official Netflix customer service Twitter account “Netflixhelps” responded to a question about HD content on PC by saying “HD is limited by content licensing and tech issues that we're working on. We expect to enable HD streaming on the PC this year.”

Just a few years ago it would have been unthinkable.  Blockbuster’s name was up there among the giants; it was one of those companies that could never die.  The changes in the economy and changes in the viewing habits of movie watchers have taken their toll and now it looks as if Blockbuster may have to file for bankruptcy.

The 4K revolution is still years off, but if you’re dying to get your hands on a 4096 x 2400 pixel projector, JVC’s DLA-SH7NLG may be just the thing.  To start with, though this is a 4K projector, it doesn’t abide by the normal rules.  It’s not a 16:9 aspect ratio, nor does it abide by the 16:10 ratio seen in some computer monitors.  At 4096 x 2400, the DLA-SH7NLG sports a 17:10 aspect ratio.
