The MS-1 music server is a first for Cary.  The company is well known for its CD and DVD players, but the MS-1 marks Cary's entry into the digital age.  The MS-1 is an almost completely hands free unit.  To put music on it, all you need to do is put in a CD, which will automatically be ripped down to FLAC, and then ejected.  There's a full terabyte of space on the MS-1, which allows for around 2,800 CDs to be stored.

Going digital often means sacrifice for audiophiles.  Even with a whole collection ripped down to FLAC, there's an issue of output.  Most computers only have one kind of audio output, and that's especially true with laptops.  Getting the best sound out of a 3.5mm jack is trying.

If you've got things to plug in, Crestron's got the plugs.  Their latest wall plate, the DM-TX-400-3G, supports just about everything you could want to attach to it. The DM-TX-400-3G has a VGA input for PC connectivity, a USB port to allow for mouse and keyboard control,  1/8" audio input, and support for SPDIF, component cables and of course, HDMI.

If you live in a big city or a college town, you're in luck.  There's something in the theaters worth seeing.  If not, it might be best to just stay home.  At the time of this writing, both major releases this week are tied at a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.  Say what you want about the accuracy of aggregators, that can't be a good sign.

A pair of new projectors was announced today by DreamVision.  The Starlight1 ($6,995) and Starlight2 ($9,495) both sport a 1080p resolution thanks to a 3-LCOS engine, a cinemascope mode and impressive contrast ratios.
