McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Cher are just some of classic acts
playing today who’s concert ticket sales made 2002 the fourth year in a
row to break ticket sales records earning the industry $2.1 billion up
from $1.75 billion in 2001.
McCartney had the highest grossing tour bringing in $103 million with the average fan paying $130 per ticket to see McCartney who hadn’t toured in about ten years. The Rolling Stones took second place with $88 million and average ticket price $119 per ticket. And in her said, last tour, Cher came in third with $74 million followed by the Billy Joel and Elton John concerts which brought in $65 million and The Dave Mathews Band with $60 million. Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, Aerosmith, Creed, Neil Diamond and The Eagles were also in the top ten. Creed and The Dave Mathews Band were the only non-veteran acts that were in the top ten grossing acts of 2002. |
