Van Halen, DCC Re-Issue
| Performance 10 | Sound 8 | Everything wrong with 'audiophile music' is right on DCC's reissue of Van Halen's debut record 'Van Halen.' This record is loaded with the ground breaking style and classic songs that literally cleared the way for hard rock and metal in the 1980's. "Runnin' With The Devil" and "Jamie's Cryin'" received commercial success, especially on radio and "You Really Got Me" a great cover of the classic Kinks song, set the precedent for future Van Halen cover songs ("Dancing in the Streets," "Oh, Pretty Woman"). Not to mention how "Eruption" rewrote all of the rules for being a guitar god.
I
A-B tested the DCC re-mastered edition of 'Van Halen' and I could hear
a more resolute, more sweet sound than the standard CD. Considering the
performance quality on this record, I feel it is worth every bit of the
$30 asking price.
