When you are a hit, you are a hit. As one of the Rob Zombie fans who simply can’t get enough of Rob’s dark and possessed-sounding techno-industrial jams, I’m delighted by the arrival of American Made Music To Strip By, a collection of 12 remixes from relatively obscure artists of Mr. Zombie’s finest works.

Rob Zombie has a very unique sound based around an absolutely scorching guitar through a Mesa Boogie amp cranked to the max and then overdriven some more. Rob is no velvety crooner like Tony Bennett or Frank Sinatra. Rob Zombie’s signature vocals come from singing through a Shure SM 57 mic (a "nail," as it known in the recording industry) and then through an amp with its distortion cranked. The vocals then are sent to the PA system or onto tape. It sounds silly, but it works. Rob Zombie’s dark lyrics, mysterious vibe and downright spooky sound are all the rage. The dynamics found on his records make them all a worthy test of a high-performance music system.

American Made Music To Strip By consists mostly of techno remixes of Rob’s biggest hits. "Superbeast" Porno Holocaust Mix remixed by Praga Kahn and Oliver Adams is downright jammin’. "How To Make Monster" Kitty’s Purrformance remixed by God Lives Underwater uses what sounds like a Roland TB 303 to add a warm techno-analog sound to an already spooky song. The coolest merger between techno and industrial on the record is "Demanoid Phenomenon" Sin Lives mix by Poly 915. Poly 915 adds a Euro-trash, Dead or Alive-sounding techno beat and synth accoutrements over the fiery musical bed.

American Made Music To Strip By is a record for Rob Zombie zealots. If you are looking for a great workout CD – you’ve got one here. If you are looking to raise demons from the dead with your high-performance music system, American Made Music To Strip By could do the trick. Rob Zombie is one of the most exciting, most controversial, scariest artists of the 1990’s. American Made Music To Strip By is a hard-hitting remix record that will keep loyal Zombie fans very happy.
