Eccentric would be one way to describe them. Neurotic would be another. Prodigy is a techno, hip hop and pseudo rap train wreck that has thousands of people intrigued including Madonna, who signed the group on her Maverick Records.
The hit single "Firestarter" is a disturbing mix of samples and hardcore beats and surprisingly a catchy melody. Its fast tempo and originality have people confused, interested and out buying records. Other cuts on the record of note include "Smack My Bitch Up" "Diesel Power" and "Funky Shit".
The record is like musical modern art. It is most likely going to be a love hate thing. I dig on it in a big way in that it has great energy, fast moving beats and melodically interesting passages throughout. If you are into artists like The Chemical Brothers, Orbital and others, Prodigy will be for you. If you mainly listen to Michael Bolton and Kenny G, you may lapse into an epileptic fit.
