It’s now clear that “Casablanca,” which won the Best Picture Oscar, is one of the greatest of all Hollywood movies, since it has everything. It tells an interesting, deeply romantic story, and features a star pairing so absolutely perfect that it’s a bit of a shock to realize this is the only movie Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman made together. The rest of the cast couldn’t be better, either: Claude Rains as the coolly cynical police detective, Sydney Greenstreet as Bogart’s friendly café-owning rival, Conrad Veidt as the arrogant Nazi officer and Paul Henreid as Bogart’s rival for Bergman’s love. The cast is full of other delectable bits, as from Peter Lorre and S.Z. Sakall.
Many memorable lines pepper the film: “Here’s looking at you, kid;” “Round up the usual suspects;” “I’m shocked, shocked that gambling goes on at Rick’s’;” “I ...

“Blue Streak” is a spin on cop movies. It can definitely holds a candle to “Beverly Hills Cop.” Martin Lawrence was definitely an in demand actor during the 1990s. In addition to this film, he has starred in his own television series, “Martin” and co-starred in “Nothing to Lose” with Tim Robbins. However, this film is one of his shining moments. Even Roger Ebert praised this film.
The success of “Blue Streak” lies in the script and some of the acting. Martin Lawrence’s performance is good, but a bit overly dramatic. It wears thin on the viewer about half way through the film. However, the then up and coming Luke Wilson turned out a great performance.
Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) is a bank robber that hires the wrong accomplice. His accomplice, Deacon (Peter Greene) betrays him so Logan has no choice but ...

It's that time of year again in which we are bombarded with holiday films. Warner Bros. has already re-released "A Christmas Story" and "The Polar Express in 3-D." Next on Warner's list is the 2007 gimmick film, "Fred Claus." Surprisingly, the film was released back in November of 2007 and is just making its way to DVD and Blu-ray over one year later. Unfortunately, the film has not gotten any better with age.
This is one of David Dobkin's first attempts at directing. Hopefully he will improve for the upcoming release of "The Flash" in 2010. "Fred Claus" is a silly film that resembles many of the made-for-TV films out there. It contains many of the thematic elements presents in Jenny McCarthy's "Santa Baby" from 2005. Mainly, it is about family struggles in a time of crisis.
Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) is ...

“The Dark Knight” is more than just the latest superhero movie, more even than the newest Batman movie—it takes the superhero movie is a different direction. Here, though there are many stunning action sequences, including a showstopper chase scene late in the film, the emphasis is on the characters and their relationships. The movie is still stylized, still taking place in a world other than ours, but it’s more involving, more a real drama than most such films.
The movie is unusually detailed, with at least five strong central characters. It covers a lot of ground emotionally and in terms of events. It’s complex in the character relationships and in terms of action—and I haven’t even mentioned Batman’s activities in Hong Kong. The production values are strong—with this budget, they’d damned well be—and it’s a great-looking movie. Six sequences were shot ...

Jewel has had her ups and downs. She began her career as a folk singer, and that worked well for her. However, the pressures of bubble-gum pop music and sexy teen icons forced her to change her image. Her song, "Intuition" marked this change in her music. Unfortunately, this did not suit her personality well at all. Thankfully, fans are now given two of her concerts on the Blu-ray format.
Disc one of this two-disc Blu-ray set contains the "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" Concert. This concert from 2006 marks her return to her musical roots. The concert was recorded at the Meyerson Symphony Center. There is a fair amount of material present in this concert, as compared to most. The tracks she performs are; "1000 Miles Away," "Near You Always," "Stephenville, TX," "Morning Song," "Fly To Me Angel," "Foolish Games," "You ...
