We've been hearing about the upcoming OLED displays for years now, and it almost seemed like the technology was going to be killed off before it even started. Thankfully, a few companies are pushing forward with OLED sets, including LG, which has just invested $655 million into the tech.

LG is using that $655 million, not for R&D, but to begin mass production. The company plans to be up and running fully by the beginning of 2014. LG expects to handle 26,000 input sheets a month, which translates to 156,000 55-inch TVs. There's no word from LG yet on whether they plan to start into 4K OLEDs  in early 2014 or not, but it's definitely something we'll be keeping an eye on.
