A new 'Star Wars' trilogy is on the way and J.J. Abrams is at the helm – at least for the first movie. He initially expressed that he didn't want to direct the film, but it seems he's come around.  Abrams will be responsible for setting the tone of the trilogy and making some significant decisions like casting. Whether he continues on to the second and third is yet to be seen, but his influence will certainly be felt.

"I've consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller," says George Lucas. "He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."  Abrams will be joining Oscar winning writer Michael Arndt on the project, as well as several consultants who have worked on previous Star Wars movies.
