It's finally here! As of today, the CALM act is officially in effect. For those not familiar, the main thrust of CALM is to ensure that commercials are not louder than the shows that they're airing with. In other words, no longer will you be blasted with a crazy loud commercial for sponges or something when you've just experienced a really sweet or sad moment in your favorite show.
CALM is one of those things that people have wanted for a very long time and now that we're finally getting it, there's a question of whether it's too little too late. After all, a good chunk of people watch their shows streaming, and even more skip through commercials courtesy of their DVR.
