There are those of us that absolutely love having giant and unique looking speakers in our home theaters and there are those of us that don't. Bowers & Wilkins appeals to both of those audiences, but their CI-800 line is all about the folks that are into subtlety. In total there are three speakers in the line, a pair of two-ways – one in-ceiling and one in-wall – and a three-way speaker that can mount either horizontally or vertically. All of the speakers use one-inch aluminum carbon braced tweeters which utilize the Nautilus Tube found in other B&W products. The smaller CCM 8.5 and CWM 8.5 – the C is for ceiling and the W is for wall – both offer up a seven inch Kevlar driver to handle the bass, while the three-way CWM 8.3 gives you a five inch Kevlar driver and a pair of seven inch carbon fiber bass drivers, giving you a frequency response as low as 30Hz. B&W's new CI 800 speakers are due out by the end of this year. |
