Universal Home Entertainment has announced four HD DVD software titles for release in August. The titles will be released in two waves.

The first wave set for August 8th will only include Ray, starring Jaime Foxx. The HD DVD will include all supplementary material that is on the Standard DVD as well as a new Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack.

The second wave set for August 22nd will see the release of The Interpreter starring Nicole Kidman, Spy Game starring Brad Pitt, and The Bone Collector starring Angelina Jolie. These titles will also include the new Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack as well as the supplementary features found on the Standard DVD.

The Suggested Retail Price for each title is $34.95

Meanwhile, Paramount Studios has delayed the release of their first HD DVDs only days before the scheduled release on May 20th. Paramount was set to release Four Brothers, U2: Rattle & Hum, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. No reason for the postponement was given by Paramount, and all information regarding the release of these titles was pulled from their press. No new release date has been given for these titles. This begs the question, is Paramount going to dedicate their support to the upcoming Blu-ray format over HD DVD?
