Portable audio is a difficult proposition for audiophiles.  The convenience is great, sure, but the sound quality leaves much to be desired.  HiFiMan aims to give it a boost with the new HM-101 DAC.  The HM-101 is quite small and boasts both a USB input for use with computers and a standard mini in for other devices.  "A friend asked me to develop a DAC that everyone could afford yet would substantially improve the sound of any conventional audio product," says HiFiMAN president Fang Bian.  The result is the HM-101 which he describes as "an affordable product for the masses yet with really good sound." Affordable is right - the HM-101 comes in at just $39.

Also introduced by HiFiMAN is the HE-300, a set of high performance over-the-ear headphones.  It's the lowest priced product in the company's line, but shares much of the same audio quality that the higher end ones enjoy.  It offers 93 dB sensitivity and a frequency response from 15Hz to 22kHz.  You can pick the HE-300 up now for $249.
