Sony has been in trouble for some time and things haven't been getting much better. The company makes a fine TV, but they're not making any money doing it. Losing year after losing year is forcing Sony to make some very big changes. Starting November 1st, they're going to be splitting the TV business into three distinct pieces...
One for lower-end outsourced products, one for LCD TVs and the other for next-generation, high-end sets. This is intended to give a bit more accountability to each of the divisions, which should help Sony to start plugging the leaks. The company will also be selling off a significant piece of an LCD display venture to Samsung - one of Sony's biggest competitors on the market today. |
