has been predicting a Van Halen reunion tour with David Lee Roth for
years and Billboard now says it is pending. Van Halen is reportedly set
to reunite to go on tour featuring the brothers Van Halen (Eddie and
Alex) along with estranged frontman Diamond David Lee Roth. Roth said
in an online interview "To me, it's not rocket surgery. It's very
simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the
dam, like what's-her-name says to what's-her-name at the end of the
movie 'Chicago' -- 'So what? It's showbiz!' So I definitely see it
happening."
Roth and Van Halen completed two very good singles of new material found on the band’s Best of Album showing the in-studio potential of the band. As far as live, Van Halen with Roth will be one of the biggest draws of the summer which should come as a welcomed relief to David Lee Roth who suffered failure on terrestrial radio as one of many “morning hosts” hopeful to fill the vast shoes of Howard Stern as he moved to Sirius Satellite Radio. Sources close to AVRev.com tell of first-hand accounts of a David Lee Roth led Van Halen studio record that has been in the can for some years now. The band recorded in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles while vocal tracks were cut by Roth in Pasadena, California. Hardcore fans of Van Halen view the Roth era as the most creatively successful however many of the Sammy Hagar albums and tours proved to be more financially bountiful. If successful, it wouldn’t be improbable to see Hagar join the tour however Roth alone should be enough to sell out a stadium tour that speaks to Baby Boomers and Gen Exers with a strong appeal seen from only a handful of other classic rock bands.
