Bowers & Wilkins today introduced the Zeppelin Air App, which detects mulitple iTunes music collections on a Wi-Fi network, and allows you to build a "community playlist" to stream over AirPlay.  “There are many fantastic mobile apps that allow you to stream music, but the Zeppelin Air App is the first of its kind that enables users to share music and create collaborative playlists with friends, mobile device to mobile device,” said Paul McCarthy, of app developer Aurnhammer. “Bowers & Wilkins has essentially created a wireless, virtual jukebox.”

B&W wants potential users to imagine a party situation, a Labor Day BBQ perhaps, where many of your guests bring their iDevices.  Zeppelin Air App will allow you access to everyone's music to create and edit the ultimate party playlist, which will then stream wirelessly to your AirPlay enabled speakers.

HOW MUCH DOES THE ZEPPELIN AIR APP COST?

This one's free.

WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE IT WORK?

If you already have an an AirPlay in place, all you'll need is the free app.  If you don't, you'll need:
  1. A compatible AirPlay device (such as an Apple Airport Express) connected to speakers, or one of the many recievers and/or speaker systems with built-in AirPlay.  Not surprisingly, B&W recommends their Zeppelin Air Speaker Dock.
  2. A Wi-Fi network
  3. A Mac or PC running iTunes (10.1 or later) and/or and iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (with iOS 4.2 or later)
WHERE DO I GET IT?
