Samsung Holds Over 60 Percent of the 3DTV Market

LG can say whatever it wants about people preferring passive technology and Sony and Panasonic can taut their Hollywood connections as much as they care to, but the folks at Samsung have one big statistic on their side that beats all of that talk. That statistic is a massive 61 percent share of the 3D TV market.  Three out of every five 3D plasmas and LCDs that get sold are Samsungs TVs - that gives the company some serious bragging rights.

"Clearly consumers are voting with their wallets," says Samsung VP John Revie, "and choosing the TV that provides a superior 3D experience."  He adds that though Samsung TVs have strong 3D performance, television isn't just about 3D. "We also are leaders in design with our gorgeous TVs, and leaders in connected TV with our hugely popular Samsung Apps platform. Consumers don't need to compromise when they choose a Samsung TV."

With quality sets and new cheaper 3D glasses, Samsung seems like they'll be holding on to a strong share of the market for quite some time.  Then again, if the desire for passive technology TVs turns into sales, we could be looking at a new leader in the near future.
