Stamford, Connecticut's Philips Electronics is debuting five brand new AirPlay Speaker Systems as a part of their Fidelio series, ranging in price from $229 - $799. The most expensive model, the SoundSphere DS9800W systems, features two two-way speakers, each with a 5.25-inch woofer, a 1-inch tweeter and a 2x50-watt amp. An IR-remote and iPhone/iPod charging stand is included. The $799 DS9800W will be the first in the series to debut, coming to stores next month. It's available with a black lacquer finish. All other speakers will hit stores in September. The SoundSphere DS6800, costing $499, will come in brushed aluminum, have a less powerful amp, and does not include a charging stand. The DS88000W is a $399 one-piece system, with a 2x15 watt amp. $329 gets you a DS3881W, with a 16-watt amp, and rechargeable li-on battery. And lastly, the $229 AD700W is a two-speaker system, with a 10-watt amp, and a USB to charge iPhones/iPods. Also announced from Philips was an Android-based media player, called the GoGear Connect. It'll include built-in WiFi, and be available with either an 8GB hard drive (for $179) or 16GB (for $219). Source: Twice |
