Android phone users have, historically, had to deal with the issue of not having access to everything that iPhone users have.  The incredibly popular platform created by Apple has been the primary one when it comes to development of applications, which typically means that Apple phones are also the first to get the latest and greatest apps.

Android is catching up in popularity though, and is finally catching up in essential applications like Netflix.  A free Netflix app has launched on the Android Marketplace - a welcome addition to the platform. On the down side, there are only a few phones that can actually use it at the moment.  These are HTC's Incredible, Nexus One, Evo 4G, G2, and Samsung's Nexus S.  Netflix is working on more, but thanks to the lack of a hardware standard, things aren't easy.

"We anticipate that many of these technical challenges will be resolved in the coming months," writes Roma De on the Netflix Blog.  "and that we will be able to provide a Netflix application that will work on a large majority of Android phones."
