Whether you call it a home theater system or a home theater in a box, there's no denying that there's a stigma attached to pre-packaged setups. The latest systems from Onkyo break out of the traditional mold by offering something that most high-end receivers don't. The top three out of Onkyo's four new home theater systems come packed with the Marvell Qdeo 4K processor, capable of taking your 1080p content and bringing it up to 4K.
Those models - the HT-S6400, HT-S7400, HT-S8400, and HT-S9400THX - also offer networking capabilities. You can either connect to the internet and hit up Rhapsody, Napster and other streaming services for your music or grab the tunes straight from your home PC. The 4K upscaling receivers will run $799 for the 6400, $899 for the 8400 and $1,099 for the THX certified 9400 when they're available this May. |
