Bob Carver is a familiar name to home theater enthusiasts that have been in the game for a while.  He's famous for - among other things - copying the sound qualities of extremely expensive amplifiers at a fraction of the cost.

Carver is back with the New Carver Corporation and the Microblok 1.5, a personal amplifier designed for folks who want more out of their PCs, laptops, MP3 players and phones.

The Microblok 1.5 is described as a personal integrated amplifier, and for good reason.  It's footprint is as small as that of a calculator or phone.  It was designed to sit on a desk or a bookshelf and power appropriately sized speakers.

Carver's Microblok pumps out 15 watts per channel across two channels, and the company boasts that the dual bridged stereo design gives it the dynamic bass output of a much larger amp.

The Microblok 1.5 is available now at an MSRP of $149.
