It was just a few years back that several manufacturers pulled away from the plasma market.  Some even stopped making the displays completely, instead focusing on new LCD technologies.

It seems that the level price of LCD screens doesn't compare favorably to the ever cheaper plasma television.  That means big sales for plasmas, which are up year-to-year in every quarter of 2010.

One thing that doesn't seem to have had much of an effect on growth is the addition of 3D.  "While 3D has not played a big role in the growth of plasma shipments," says Ken Park of DisplaySearch, "it has helped to support plasma TV in the competition with LCD TV."

According to a recent DisplaySearch analysis, plasma growth appears to be limited by supply.
