Comcast's purchase of a 51 percent share in NBC has been a long time coming, and it looks like we'll finally see it happen.  The FCC turned in a 4-1 vote in favor of the deal and the Justice Department approved of it shortly after, which was the final obstacle the companies had to navigate.

According to the folks at Comcast, we'll be seeing the deal completed by the end of the month, along with various actions from the company designed to ensure a fair business environment for all. "We are pleased that many of the voluntary commitments we proposed beginning the day the transaction was announced and continuing throughout the process have been incorporated into the FCC's Order," says Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts.

"The NBC Universal joint venture will be well positioned to compete, innovate, and bring new choices to consumer," says Roberts, "Our original vision for the combination remains intact so that consumers will benefit, and our competitors will be treated fairly."
