A remote control is a very personal thing.  Once you get used to it, you don't have to look down to do even the most complicated of tasks.  You navigate by muscle memory, even in the dark.  But remotes are about to change.

Starting this spring, Blu-ray players from Haier, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and the Best Buy brand Dynex are all getting remotes with dedicated Netflix buttons.  TVs from Sharp, Sony and Toshiba will also feature the new button on remotes.

The button will be unobtrusive in some cases, and in others it will be a large button featuring the logo.  It's similar to the On Demand button on many cable remotes in that sense.

You can bet that the folks at Netflix are thrilled about the change.  After all, customers will be just one button push away from accessing the streaming service.  "For members who want even more convenience when instantly watching TV shows and movies streaming from Netflix" says CPO Neil Hunt "the answer is about to be right in their hands."
