For those that are watching the forums, it is no surprise that "Star Wars" is coming to Blu-ray.  However, it is always a sigh of relief when the studio officially announces the product's release.  No specific date has been set but the releases states September 2011.

The series will be released on Blu-ray in three sets.  The entire boxiest consists of nine discs and all six films.  However, the release neglects to state what the extra three discs contain.  Our guess would be three discs of bonus materials.  This set will retail for $139.99.  However, Amazon has the pre-order already up for $89.99

The saga will also be released as two individual boxsets.  Each is a three-disc set.  One will be the original trilogy and the other will be the prequel trilogy.  These sets do not seem to contain the extra bonus discs that comes in the nine-disc set.  Each of these sets will retail for $69.99, though Amazon has them on pre-order for $44.99.

There is no official statement that the Blu-ray set will only include the special editions, however, forum posts have already indicated that Lucas will not be restoring the original prints for Blu-ray.
