Things looked bad for the Boxee Box, a collaboration between software maker Boxee and hardware provider D-Link.

Their unique set top box was announced with much excitement, but a combination of production delays and other product launches seemed to spell doom for the smaller device.  After all, with Google TV and Apple TV on the market, what chance does an upstart have?

A pretty good one, apparently.  D-Link has reported that sales are outpacing stock volumes, performing much better than anticipated.

The Boxee Box is currently only sold online, but D-Link says a placement into Best Buy stores could happen in the near future.  The device will also be launching in the Middle East and Asia Pacific countries early next year.
