The Consumer Electronics Shows is one of the biggest events of the year for the companies that go.  Since it falls at the beginning of the year, it also tends to set the pace for what's to come.

If the trade show is to be any indicator, things aren't looking great for Google TV.  The folks at Google have been working on new software to address some of the problems with the initial launch, but it looks like that software won't be ready for the show.

The delay on Google's part means a change of plans for Sony and Logitech certainly, but could also affect Vizio and Samsung, both of whom are said to be bringing their own Google TV enabled devices to the show.

Toshiba on the other hand has no plans to rush the Google TV launch.  "We will not be announcing a Toshiba TV or Blu-ray player or demonstrating the products at CES," says company VP Jeff Barney.  "We have an understanding with Google about the future product roadmap and will bring the right product out at the right timeframe."
