The first glasses-free 3D display from a major company is now available.  The second hits on Saturday.

Though the world has grown smaller and technology has advanced the regular phenomenon of Japan getting all the cool tech fist hasn't changed.  Toshiba's Naked-Eye 3D display is now available in Japan with no mention of a US release.

The 12 inch model, which is available now, can be had for the equivalent of $1,430.  It's surprisingly capable and includes an SD slot, a USB input, LAN support and of course an HDMI input.  The resolution isn't amazing - just 466 x 350 - but at 12 inches and in 3D that might not matter so much.

Toshiba's 20 inch version boasts a resolution of 720p and will be available on Saturday.  The larger set demands a price of $2,870.

Sadly, it doesn't look we'll be seeing these in the US any time soon.

They must find a technology without glasses.
I Demo the Sony HD system at a
major retailer
for Christmas. I have a made in Japan demo disc
and the 52"
LED Sony set. The 3D is diappointing
to 80% of the people and the glasses do
not
fit a smaller child's head....Have not sold one unit
at this store in three
months.
