The matte black Integra's DTR-80.2 isn't the cleanest appearance-wise, but the many buttons on the front are well organized. Like other units in this series, I enjoy the easy-to-see silver volume and power controls. A USB port for an iPod/iPhone (or other hard drives loaded with music), analog stereo and video RCA jacks, an optical toslink digital in, and an HDMI input round out the front. Speaking of connections, this receiver has 8 HDMI 1.4a inputs (7 back, 1 front) which allow 3D pass-through for 3D Blu-ray and 3D broadcast content. HDMI 1.4a also supports Audio Return Channel. There are also 3 Y/Pr/Pb component inputs (capable of up to 1080i), 1 D-Sub (15pin) VGA input, 4 S-Video inputs, 5 RCA composite inputs, 3 coaxial digital inputs, 3 optical digital inputs, 9 analog stereo RCA inputs including Phono, and a set of 7.1 multi-channel inputs for devices with multi-channel audio out.
An HQV Reon-VX video processor chip upconverts and deinterlaces all HDMI signals to a native 1080p (24fps or 60fps) resolution and features ISF Certified Calibration Controls. Component video inputs also run through the HQV Reon-VX, but upscaling and upconversion are limited to 1080i. In terms of outputs, the DTR-80.2 has plenty, including 2 Y/Pr/Pb, 1 composite, 1 S-Video, 2 stereo RCA, a set of analog preamp outs for 9.2, and of course 2 HDMI 1.4a outs. Dual HDMI outputs are great for those alternating between multiple displays such as a flat screen and a projection setup.
Surround sound wise, Integra's DTR-80.2 easily decodes all the modern codecs and includes a 192K / 32-bit audio DAC for advanced sound processing. On the Dolby side of life, there is TrueHD, Digital Plus, Pro Logic IIz, and IIx. DTS compatibilities include HD Master Audio, ES Discrete 6.1, Matrix 6.1, Neo:6, and 96/24. On top of the processing, Integra includes Audyssey's top of the line MultEQ XT which is a professional grade calibrator for installers. If you love your surround sound with height, the DTR-80.2 offers both Dolby Pro Logic IIz as well as Audyssey DSX. If you hate loud commercials and variations in multiple source levels, or simply wish to not annoy your neighbors late at night, look no further than the included Dolby Volume or Audyssey's Dyanamic Volume which allow music and movies to be heard properly below reference level.
Being Windows 7 and DLNA 1.5 certified, the DTR 80.2 can stream music from the internet or on your home's broadband network, as well as get firmware updates. Using the unit's Ethernet jack to connect to the internet, users can enjoy Pandora, vTuner, Napster, Mediafly, Rhapsody, and may others. This receiver is also HD Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio ready.
The Integra DTR-80.2 is a flagship AVR with 9 channels of powerful amplification and easily competes with AV receivers that cost over $6,000. The only thing really missing is a WiFi connection. Pick up the Integra DTR-80.2 online and in local retailers for around $2,800.00.
