New features like Vevo and Vice apps as well as an Accuweather application are live, but it's Netflix streaming – the one big feature initially missing from the Box – that's getting people really excited.  Not only will Netflix launch on the Boxee Box before the end of the year, but future Boxee controllers will even sport a dedicated Netflix button.

Of course, the Boxee Box will still do everything else you were promised.  It handles a huge variety of digital media files including just about every video codec you could ask for.  It can handle a 1080p resolution and it can even pass through 7.1 channel audio to your receiver.

In addition to all that, Boxee has announced that a Hulu Plus app will be on the way soon.  An official release date has yet to be revealed for that.
