The New Xbox 360 Update Brings ESPN Streaming and Netflix Search

A new update for the Xbox 360 went live yesterday morning and the new features definitely impress.  It's sleeker, faster and has some new sound effects that aren't quite so annoying as the old ones, but the really interesting stuff is in the video.

The Netflix service got a nice update that makes your queue a lot simpler to go through, even if it's not as pretty as it once was.  You'll also find the ability to search by title, which is a big step up.  Searching by actor or director would have been a nice addition, but those are sadly absent.

ESPN is the newest channel on the Xbox 360, and selecting it allows you to watch live and past sports coverage in HD.  Your selections are limited to programming on ESPN 3, but that does include the NBA, MLB and College Football.  ESPN says you'll have access to over 3,500 events every year.

The final piece of the puzzle is of course Kinect capability.  Microsoft's motion sensing controller releases on the 4th, and will be able to control video playback as well as act as a controller for games.

Since the update, it is difficult browsing titles, as it keeps wanting to scroll
all the way to the right by itself. Have tried multiple controllers. Have gone
real slow... then swoosh... off to the right it goes at mach speed. Ideas?

Did you really just tell him he sucked when all he did was ask how much longer
it was going to take for his download to finish? Grow up. Anywho, Cleff I would
just wait it out I guess. Make sure there's nobody else using your internet too
cause that would slow it down a lot
