heavy metal legends, Spinal Tap are reuniting as part of the Live Earth
concert scheduled for July 7, 2007. All three original members of
Spinal Tap will be returning for the concert to be held at Wembley
Stadium in London. Christopher Guest will return as guitarist Nigel
Tufnel. Michael McKean returns as singer David St. Hubbins, and Harry
Shearer returns as bassist Derek Smalls.
Rob Reiner, director of This Is Spinal Tap, will also be at the London concert. In addition to being in attendance, Reiner has created a new 15-minute film on the band’s reunion. The film will play during the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Live Earth, an event to be held on July 7, consists of seven concerts to happen simultaneously across seven countries on one day. The concerts, hosted by Al Gore, will promote the saving this planet from global warming. Lineups for the US and London concerts have been posted online. The US concert includes performances by Bon Jovi, The Police, Dave Matthews Band, Kelly Clarkson, Smashing Pumpkins, and John Mayer. The London concert includes performances by Beastie Boys, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters, Genesis, Madonna, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
