The new TRON movie is an opportunity for fans to relive the classic movie and catch up with the world that's been constantly evolving since we saw it last.  It's also an opportunity for a few companies to do some synergistic marketing.  You'll see plenty of tie-ins to the movie, but the most interesting and confounding is the special edition TRON 3D glasses from Oakley.

The company boasts that its new 3D glasses are the best ever made and "the first optically correct 3D eyewear on Earth."  The lenses are said to eliminate ghosting, provide a wider field of view and eliminate distortion.

That's all well and good until you get to the price.  The new Oakley TRON glasses come to $150 each, and use passive technology meaning that they're almost certainly not compatible with your 3D setup at home.

It's a lot to shell out for glasses you'll only use a few times a year, but if you've got a 3D setup at home that utilizes passive technology, the improvement in the glasses may prove worth it.  Still, $150 is a big step up compared to the glasses that come with your $13 movie ticket.
