The folks at Sony, Discovery and IMAX – who really need to think up a name for their joint effort – have announced some of the programming that's going to be coming to the first fully programmed 24 hour 3D channel.

Most of what you'll be getting is documentary style shows, but the lineup sounds absolutely fascinating.  Four original series were announced including 'China' and 'Africa in 3D' which should be self explanatory.  'Jewels of the World' will explore both natural and man-made wonders of the world like the Grand Canyon and the Angkor Wat, while 'Abandoned Planet' focuses on once thriving cities now abandoned.

In addition to that, you'll be getting six exclusive 3D premieres that include Attack of the Giant Jellyfish,' 'The Haunted,' 'Into the Deep 3D' and ' Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D.'  The other two seem a bit redundant since they're among the only 3D Blu-rays available now, but you'll also get a chance to check out 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' and 'Monster House' if you haven't yet.

The new, as of yet unnamed channel will launch in 2011.
